Xiaomi just launched the much-awaited Redmi Note 2 and Redmi Note 2 Prime phablets in China, along with the company's all new Android 5.0 Lollipop-based MIUI 7. While the Redmi Note 2 will be available in two variants varying in connectivity options, the Prime will have just one variant.
Although Xiaomi hasn't disclosed their availability outside China yet, we expect it may launch the phones, along with the new UI in India on August 19.
The 3G only variant of the Redmi Note 2 has been priced at CNY 799, while its 4G variant will cost buyers CNY 899. Meanwhile, the Redmi Note 2 Prime has been priced at CNY 999. When converted into INR, the prices revolve in and around the Rs.10,000 price bracket.
At the onset, there's no difference between the Redmi Note 2 3G and 4G variants apart from the obvious connectivity differences.
Moreover, the Redmi Note 2 Prime also has an identical spec sheet, the difference being its processor (although same) is clocked higher in comparison to the Redmi Note 2. Also, the Redmi Note 2 Prime will have 32GB of inbuilt storage (non-expandable).
Both the Redmi Note 2 variants on the other hand will have 16GB of internal memory with no expansion slot.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 (3G+4G) and the Redmi Note 2 Prime have 5.5-inch FullHD IPS display with a 1080x1920 pixels resolution and 401ppi pixel density.
The Redmi Note 2 (3G+4G) is powered by a 2GHz octa-core Mediatek MT6795 Helio X10 SoC coupled with PowerVR G6200 GPU and 2GB RAM. The Redmi Note 2 Prime will have the same SoC clocked at 2.2GHz.
All the three phones will sport a 13MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash along with a 5MP front camera.
The phones are backed by a 3,060mAh battery.
