Nintendo revealed a number of of the primary batch of Animal Crossing’s “amiibo buying and selling playing cards”. The white New 3DS bundle will also be available in the UK on October 2nd and be available later in Q4 2015 for Australia and New Zealand.
While this is not a traditional Animal Crossing game, Happy Home Designer aims to appeal to fans of both the series and Amiibo owners, being the first game ever to support Amiibo cards. Happy Home Designer focuses on the decorating and home-designing aspects of the Animal Crossing games.
By tapping the Animal Crossing series amiibo cards to the NFC adapter, players can design a room for that specific character on the card and scan additional character cards to invite those character to visit. For a limited time after launch copies of the game will come with one special amiibo card.
The NFC Reader/Writer, announced in 2014, allows amiibo figures to work with the 2DS and 3DS family of systems.
While the New 3DS and New 3DS XL comes with an integrated NFC chip reader, older versions of the handheld – as well as the 2DS – do not offer the same functionality.
